| Title: |
Providing Access to High Quality CTE and Adding Relevance to Academic Standards |
| Presenters: |
Steve Broome, Southern Regional Education Board, Atlanta
|
| Abstract: |
One of our key practices it to provide more students access to intellectually challenging career/ technical studies in high-demand fields that emphasize the higher-level mathematics, science, literacy and problem-solving skills needed in the workplace for further education. This session will describe how schools and districts can work with career technical education to assure that CT adds value to student achievement and is at the table for overall school improvement; develop standards, conditions and agreements for awarding postsecondary credit; provide students opportunities to work toward a recognized employer certification.
